I have a little question,

She said she listened to european classical music and that she couldn't help it because when she was a girl her mother would take her to the opera.

Around the release of Drama of Exile she said she was listening to a lot of Turkish, Middle Eastern, and Egyptian music. She went to Egypt and said she was very influenced (the instruments on drama of exile reflect on that). Around this time she would tell people in interviews that she was of Turkish decent and merely had a German passport. (That isn't true, i don't know why she said this)

However when it comes to specific artists, I cannot remember ever hearing of an artist that she specifically admired or listened to.

She said that she owned everything by The Doors, and I believe this was around the time of Drama of Exile. She also said that the Rolling Stones were an influence (along with opera).
The title "The Marble Index" comes from a poem by Wordsworth. She said she sees some of her own poetry in the poetry of others. I've heard that she read some of the other Romantic poets with Jim Morrisson, but I can't remember which ones specifically (probably Byron, Shelley, Keats, and/or Colerdige).
The title for the song "Nibelungen" comes from old Germanic folk tales about the Nibelungs, such as the Nibulungenlied.
Nico was obviously well-read because her lyrics are very literary, but unfortunately I don't know many specifics beyond this.

...except the needle, eventually. But that wasn't always the case.

Her favorite writers were Rainer Maria Rilke and Silvia Plath.
